Terms of Service
Last updated 11 October 2026
These Terms are the agreement between you and Lexycraft. They explain what Lexycraft is, what you can expect from it, what we ask of you, what happens to what you write and share, and how either of us can end the arrangement. They cover the Lexycraft web app, the iOS and Android apps, the browser extension, and — to the extent described below — the public pages on lexycraft.com.
About these Terms
Lexycraft is operated by Raphael Benhamou as an individual. There is no company behind it: “Lexycraft”, “we”, “us” and “our” in these Terms mean him, operating this service. “You” means the person using it.

These Terms apply when you create a Lexycraft account and when you use Lexycraft — on the web, on iPhone or Android, or through the browser extension. By doing either you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Lexycraft.
If you only open a Pack that someone shared with you, without an account, most of what follows is not about you. What still applies to that visit are the rules in “Using Lexycraft fairly” and in “What belongs to Lexycraft”.
We have tried to write this in plain language rather than legal language. Where a sentence here is shorter than the law behind it, the law still applies in full — nothing in these Terms takes away a right you have as a consumer.
What Lexycraft is
Lexycraft is a language-learning service. You collect vocabulary — from a text or a video you bring, from a list you paste, from a topic you pick, or from what we suggest — and Lexycraft builds practice around it: stories, spoken roleplay conversations, short training exercises, and a review schedule that decides what to show you next.
It runs as a web app, as apps for iPhone and Android, and as a browser extension that adds two of the same features to pages you are already reading. They are one product and one account, not separate services.
Lexycraft is currently free. There is no subscription, no paid plan, no in-app purchase and no payment provider — we do not ask for or handle card details anywhere. We may introduce paid features in the future. If we do, they will be governed by the terms shown to you at that time, and nothing in these Terms commits you to pay for anything.
Who can use Lexycraft
You must be at least 13 to create a Lexycraft account. That is our own eligibility rule for this service, not a statement about the agreements a person of any particular age can make.
If you are under 18, you should use Lexycraft with the permission of a parent or guardian where the law that applies to you requires it. Lexycraft is not designed for or aimed at children, and we do not knowingly keep an account belonging to someone below the age above — write to support@lexycraft.com and we will remove it.
You also need to be able to use Lexycraft lawfully where you are. We do not restrict particular countries, but we cannot advise you on local rules that apply to you.
Your account
You can create an account with an email address and a password, or by signing in with Google or with Apple. One account works across every Lexycraft app and the extension.
Give us an email address that actually reaches you: it is how we confirm the account, how you recover it, and how we would tell you about a change to these Terms. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us at support@lexycraft.com if you think someone else has got into your account.
You are responsible for what happens through your account when it is your doing — sharing your password, or letting someone else use it. You are not responsible for a failure on our side, or for someone breaking into your account through no fault of yours.
You can choose a display name. It is shown to other people only if you share a Pack; the section below explains that. If you signed in with Google or Apple we start it off with the name they gave us, and you can change it at any time in the app.
One person, one account. Please do not create accounts in bulk.
What you put into Lexycraft
“Your content” means anything you submit: text you paste, a web address or a video link you give us, a document or image you upload, a word list you import, a theme you type for a vocabulary pack, the names you give your Packs, the replies you write in a Roleplay, the answers you write in an exercise, and anything you say when you use voice input.
It stays yours. We do not claim ownership of anything you submit, and using Lexycraft does not transfer any of your rights to us.
To run the service we need permission to handle it, so you give us a licence to store, copy, process, adapt, translate and transmit your content — including passing it to the service providers named in our Privacy Policy, who handle it on our instructions and may not use it for themselves. The licence is non-exclusive, worldwide and free of charge, it exists only so that we can operate, secure, maintain and provide Lexycraft to you, and it does not let us sell your content, advertise with it, or show it to other people.
The one exception is content you deliberately publish. If you share a Pack, the licence extends to displaying what that Pack contains on its public page, for as long as you keep it shared.
The licence lasts while the content is in Lexycraft and ends when you delete it or delete your account, apart from the short-lived technical copies our Privacy Policy describes.
Please only submit content you are allowed to submit. By sending us something you confirm you have the right to, that it does not infringe anyone else's rights, and that sharing it with us does not break a law or an agreement you are under. Take particular care with material that belongs to someone else and with anything private about another person — we cannot check this for you.
Some of what you submit is stored and some is not: uploaded files and voice recordings are discarded once we have read the text out of them, while the text of an extraction, your Roleplay messages and your written exercise answers are kept with your account so the product works. Our Privacy Policy sets out exactly which is which, and for how long.
What happens to your content, in detail: Privacy Policy.
Sharing a Pack
A Pack is a group of vocabulary you built in Lexycraft. Nothing you make is public unless you choose to share it, and nothing is shared by default.
When you share a Pack, Lexycraft creates a page at a hard-to-guess address on lexycraft.com that anyone holding the link can open without signing in. That page shows the Pack's name, its words with their definitions, parts of speech and example sentences, the language and level, the Pack's cover picture, and your display name as the creator. Your email address is never shown. Neither is anything about your own learning — your progress, your review schedule, where you originally got a word, and the sources you extracted from all stay private.
A shared page is a snapshot taken when you shared it, not a live window into your Pack. Editing the Pack afterwards does not change the page until you share it again.
You can stop sharing at any time, which takes the page down immediately for everyone. Deleting the Pack, or deleting your account, does the same. What we cannot reach is what has already left us — a link preview cached by a messaging app, a screenshot, or a copy someone imported into their own Lexycraft library before you stopped sharing. Please treat sharing as permanent in that sense, and share accordingly.
Because a shared Pack is published to other people, you need the right to publish what is in it, and it must not be unlawful, infringing, abusive, or aimed at a particular person. The next two sections say what that means and what we do about it.
AI-assisted features
Much of what Lexycraft produces is generated by AI: pulling vocabulary out of a text you bring, writing definitions and example sentences, building a story around your words, playing the other side of a Roleplay, generating training exercises, marking a sentence you wrote, reading a story aloud, and turning your speech into text.
AI output can be wrong. A definition can be off, an example sentence can be unnatural, a story can contain a mistake, and feedback on something you wrote can be mistaken about it. This is not a fault we can engineer away — it is how these systems work — so treat what Lexycraft produces as study material to think about, not as an authority. If something looks wrong, it may well be.
Lexycraft is a learning aid. It is not a translation service, a language qualification, or professional advice of any kind, and you should not rely on it where accuracy matters — an official form, a contract, a medical or legal document, or anything else with consequences. Use a qualified human for those.
We cannot promise a learning outcome. Nothing in Lexycraft guarantees that you will reach a particular level, pass an exam, or learn at a particular pace. The levels, streaks and scores in the app describe your activity inside Lexycraft; they are not a certification and no one else is obliged to recognise them.
Nothing Lexycraft decides automatically has a legal or similarly significant effect on you. Our Privacy Policy explains which providers process your content and what they may do with it.
The material Lexycraft generates for you
You may use the stories, definitions, exercises, feedback and audio that Lexycraft generates for you — for your own learning, for teaching, and for other lawful purposes. As between you and us, we do not claim them, and we will not come after you for using them.
We cannot give you copyright in them, and we will not pretend otherwise. Under Spanish and EU law copyright generally requires a human author, so material produced by a machine may not be protected by copyright at all — which means there may be nothing for anyone to own or transfer. Generated material can also resemble something that already exists, and a word's meaning is a fact about a language rather than anyone's property. So before you publish or rely on generated material outside Lexycraft, check it — you are the one making it public.
Some of what you see was not generated for you at all. The curated vocabulary in Discover, our example content, our illustrations and the wording of the app itself are ours; the next section covers them.
Using Lexycraft fairly
The short version: use it to learn a language, and do not break it or misuse it. Specifically, please do not:
- use Lexycraft for anything unlawful, or submit or publish content that is unlawful where you are or where we are
- publish content that infringes someone's copyright, trade marks, privacy or image rights, or that you do not have permission to publish
- publish content that harasses, threatens or demeans a person or a group, or that sexualises a child in any way
- submit someone else's personal information without a proper reason for doing so
- try to get around rate limits, quotas, access controls or the checks that keep accounts separate
- use bots, scripts or scraping to work the service beyond ordinary personal use, or resell access to it
- probe, attack or overload our systems or our providers', or try to reach data that is not yours
- impersonate someone else, or misrepresent who created a shared Pack
- try to make the AI produce unlawful material, or use Lexycraft as a general-purpose generator unrelated to language learning
Please also do not copy, decompile or reverse-engineer the Lexycraft software, except where the law expressly gives you that right — for instance the rights to study, observe or achieve interoperability that EU software law protects, which we do not attempt to override.
Using the browser extension the way it is meant to be used is not prohibited automation. It only acts when you tell it to, on the page you are reading, and that is exactly what it is for.
When we restrict content or an account
Because Lexycraft lets you publish a Pack that other people can open, we host content on your behalf, and we owe you a plain account of what we may take down and how. Here it is.
We do not run automated content moderation. Nothing you write in Lexycraft is scanned by a moderation system, no algorithm decides to remove your content or restrict your account, and we do not read your private library, your Roleplay conversations or your exercise answers looking for problems. Everything in this section is done by a person — in practice, by the one person who runs Lexycraft — and only when there is a reason to look.
That reason is normally a report. If you believe a shared Pack page contains illegal or infringing content, write to support@lexycraft.com with the address of the page and an explanation of the problem, and enough for us to find it. We will look at it ourselves and act where we should. Anyone can send such a report; you do not need a Lexycraft account.
We may remove a shared Pack page, or suspend or close an account, where:
- the content is unlawful, or infringes someone's rights
- there has been a serious or repeated breach of these Terms
- an account is being used for fraud, or to attack or abuse the service or other users
- a court, a supervisory authority or the law requires it
We will act proportionately and in good faith, with regard to your freedom of expression and your right to a decision that is not arbitrary. Where we can, we will do the narrower thing: taking one shared page down rather than closing an account, and asking before acting where the situation allows.
If we restrict something of yours, we will email you what we did and why, unless the law stops us. You can reply and tell us we got it wrong, and a person will read it — we are small enough that this is a real answer rather than a queue. We do not operate a formal appeals body, and we do not claim to. You can always take a dispute further under the section on law and disputes below.
Availability, limits and changes
Lexycraft is provided free and on a best-effort basis. We do not promise a level of uptime or a response time, and there is no service credit, because there is nothing you have paid. We do try to keep it running and to fix what breaks.
It can be unavailable — while we deploy something, when a provider we depend on has an outage, or during maintenance. Where an interruption is planned and significant, we will give notice in the app if we reasonably can.
Reasonable limits apply to how much you can generate in a given period. They exist so the service stays available to everyone and because the AI behind it costs real money to run. If you reach a limit, the app tells you and you can carry on shortly afterwards. We adjust these limits as capacity changes, so we do not publish them here as a fixed promise.
Lexycraft will change. We add features, improve them, and sometimes retire one that is not working. Where a change would significantly reduce your ability to use Lexycraft as it has been described to you, we will tell you in advance and in a durable form, and you may end this agreement and delete your account if you do not want to continue — at no cost to you. Ordinary improvements and fixes do not need that notice.
Lexycraft is not a backup or archiving service. We take care of your data and describe how in the Privacy Policy, but please keep your own copy of anything you would be sorry to lose.
What belongs to Lexycraft
The Lexycraft name, the logo, the software, the design of the apps and this website, our illustrations, our written copy and the vocabulary content we curate ourselves are ours, or licensed to us. You may use them as part of using Lexycraft normally, and not otherwise: please do not copy the product, redistribute it, or use the Lexycraft name or logo as your own without asking.
This does not cover your content, which stays yours; material generated for you, which is dealt with above; or anything belonging to somebody else. We do not claim ownership of a language, of words or of what they mean.
If you think something in Lexycraft infringes your rights, write to support@lexycraft.com with enough detail to identify it and to show why it is yours, and we will look into it.
Ending this agreement
You can stop using Lexycraft whenever you like, and you can delete your account yourself from inside the app — Me → Account → Delete account on the phone apps, Profile → Account → Delete account on the web. There is nothing to request and no one to ask, and no notice period. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your account and everything in it goes, and any Pack you had shared stops being available at the same moment. We cannot restore a deleted account.
If you cannot sign in, our public deletion page explains how to ask us instead: account-deletion page.
We may suspend or close your account on the grounds in the section on restrictions above. Except where the reason is urgent — an attack, a legal requirement, a risk to other people — we will contact you first, and we will always tell you afterwards.
We may also stop offering Lexycraft altogether. If that ever happens we will give you reasonable advance notice by email so you can take a copy of your vocabulary before the service ends.
When this agreement ends, the sections about your content licence for anything that remains, our intellectual property, our responsibility to each other, and governing law continue to apply to what happened while it was running.
Privacy and cookies
Two separate documents cover this, and neither is part of the agreement you make here. Our Privacy Policy is a notice explaining what personal data we handle, why, who else sees it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have. Our Cookie Policy lists what Lexycraft stores in your browser and how you control the optional parts.
Accepting these Terms is not consent to anything under data protection law. Where we need your consent — the optional analytics and diagnostics on the web — we ask for it separately, you can allow each one on its own, and you can change your mind at any time from Profile → Privacy → Cookie settings. Refusing has no effect on your ability to use Lexycraft.
What we do with personal data: Privacy Policy.
What is stored in your browser, and your choices: Cookie Policy.
App stores and other companies
Lexycraft relies on third-party infrastructure and service providers to operate. Many of them — the hosting, AI and supporting services behind the product — provide their services to us rather than directly to you: their terms are not an agreement between you and them, and we remain the one answerable to you for the service. Some third parties you deal with yourself, such as an app store or the sign-in provider you choose, have their own terms with you as well. Our Privacy Policy explains what each kind of provider receives.
If you installed a Lexycraft app from the App Store or from Google Play, that store's own rules also apply to the copy of the app on your device, alongside these Terms. On iPhone and iPad, Apple's standard licence agreement for App Store apps governs the app itself; we have not replaced it with one of our own. These Terms govern your Lexycraft account and the service behind the app. If the two ever disagree about the app on your device, the store's terms decide that question.
Lexycraft may link out to other websites — a page you extracted from, for example. We do not control them and are not responsible for them.
What we promise, and what we do not
We will provide Lexycraft with reasonable care and skill, and it should match the description on this page and in the app. As a consumer you have rights under Spanish and EU law about digital services — including the right to have a service that does not conform to the contract brought into conformity, and the remedies the law gives you if we do not. Nothing in these Terms limits or removes those rights, and if a sentence here appears to, that sentence does not apply.
Within that, there are things we do not promise:
- that AI-generated definitions, sentences, stories, exercises, feedback or audio are accurate, natural or complete
- that you will reach any particular level, result or pace of learning
- that the service will be uninterrupted or free of faults, or that every fault will be fixed
- that a feature will stay exactly as it is today
- that content someone else has shared with you is accurate or lawful
None of this is a way of disclaiming everything. It describes what a free, AI-assisted language-learning tool honestly is, so that you can decide what to rely on it for.
Responsibility for loss
If we fail to meet these Terms, or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss you suffer as a foreseeable result. Loss is foreseeable if it is obvious that it will happen, or if we both knew it might when you started using Lexycraft.
We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable in that sense, for loss caused by something outside our reasonable control, or for loss caused by you using Lexycraft in a way these Terms ask you not to.
We do not exclude or limit our responsibility where the law does not let us. That includes death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and any right you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded — including your rights if the service does not conform to the contract, and your rights under data protection law.
We have deliberately not set a monetary cap on what we might owe you. Lexycraft is free, so a cap expressed as “what you paid us” would come to nothing, and a term like that would be unfair. What applies instead is what Spanish and EU law provide.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by Spanish law. If you live in another country in the EU or the EEA, that choice does not take away the protection of the consumer rules of the country where you live that cannot be contracted out of — those still apply to you.
You can bring a claim about Lexycraft in the Spanish courts and, if you are a consumer living in the EU, in the courts of the country where you live. If we ever need to bring a claim against you, we will do it in the courts of the country where you live. There is no arbitration requirement in these Terms and you do not give up your right to go to court.
Before any of that, please just write to support@lexycraft.com. Almost everything is quicker to fix that way, and we would rather hear about a problem than read about it in a letter.
We are not currently signed up to any out-of-court consumer dispute resolution body, and we are not obliged to be. If that changes we will say so here. You can also contact the consumer authority where you live, or your national European Consumer Centre if you live in another EU country. The European Commission's online dispute resolution platform closed in July 2025, so there is no longer a link to give you.
If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms — because Lexycraft changes, because the law does, or because something here turned out to be unclear. The date at the top always shows the current version.
If a change materially affects your rights or what you can expect from Lexycraft, we will tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect, by email or in the app. If you do not want to accept it, you can delete your account before then and nothing you have already done is affected. Continuing to use Lexycraft after a material change has taken effect, having been given that notice, is how you accept it.
Small corrections, clarifications and changes we have to make immediately to comply with the law take effect when we publish them. We will not apply any change backwards to something that has already happened.
